The Challenges Group works to identify SMEs with the potential to attract commercial financing and impact investment funding and then provides continued support. This enables enterprises to become investment ready and therefore achieve access to finance. We connect investors to the enterprises we support.
Impact investors we work with include AgDevCo, AAC, ERM, Ashoka, ManoCap, Injaro, AgDevCo, African Agricultural Capital, E+Co, Ashden, ERM and ACRE. ACRE is a key project that illustrates the kind of work Challenges does and is therefore being used to illustrate our work.
Challenges Capital works with ACRE as the syndicate administrator, providing expert advice from an investor perspective. This convening role is illustrative of Challenges Capital’s wider expertise, working with partners to connect potential investors to growth enterprises in emerging economies.
By bringing together a syndicate of investors (a group of like-minded investors who are interested in investing in ACRE pipeline opportunities on a deal by deal basis) Challenges Capital is able to supply networks, knowledge and practical support.
The syndicate administrator can also make recommendations on further technical assistance provision to strengthen certain aspects of business operations. This means that the chances of accessing finance increase.
